Another ripe, juicy Fake Buddha Quote spotted on Twitter:
RT @WizeOne2011: “The kingdom of heaven is closer then the brow above the eye but mankind does not see it” ~ Buddha
— N3RD (@N3RD_KING) June 14, 2012
The language is purely Christian, and “Kingdom of heaven” is in no way a Buddhist concept. Fortunately this particular quote seems very rare, and Google shows only a handful of results for it, some of which are variants (e.g. “above your eye”).
This commenter knows nothing of Buddhism or Vedic history. The language isn’t “Christian”, its “Christianized English”. Heaven is a Universal concept older than all Abrahamic religions.
“The Kingdom of Heaven” is a Christian expression, or as you would apparently like it to be expressed, “a Christianized English” expression. Perhaps you’re not a native English speaker, but it’s standard to refer to specifically Christian expressions as “Christian language,” as you’ll see from this Google search.
I’ve added your comment to my “hate mail” page. It does constantly surprise me how much negativity there is in the world, especially from people who identify as being “spiritual.”
